Texture Tuesday Herbs and Exfoliants

From left to right:

Ground Parsley: You don't have to just eat it or decorate your plate with it! High in antioxidants, parsley is wrinkle and acne fighting and an anti-inflammatory. It leaves your skin glowing and is also great for treating dark spots from acne scarring. Greats for face masks and soaps.

A quick recipe for a parsley mask to treat dark spots and acne:
-Ground Parsley
-Lemon
-Honey
Be sure to moisturize your face after using this face mask, because of the lemon, it can dry out your skin.

Luffa Shavings: Shaved from the African vegetal sponge, (correctly spelled) Loofah was used by African Queens and Pharaohs. Luffas exfoliates and stimulates the tissues, promoting blood circulation. It also helps to reduce lumps, bumps, and cellulite by helping the skin to regain elasticity.

The Butta Guru will be growing her own luffas again this year! I just love these natural sponges from growing them to using them. They are very easy to grow but they spread very well...over everything so keep watch and keep them trimmed! Luffa vines attract plenty wasps and ants.

Lemon Balm: Great for healing various conditions and ailments, for example, muscle pain, fever, and even cold sores. Lemon balm is also full of antioxidants and reduces inflammation.
Lemon balm smells amazing so be careful if you are growing it on your own in a garden. You will get the bees-ness 🐝🐝🐝 and I do mean this literally, lol!
Lavender Buds

Lavender Buds: Soothes and heals the skin. Also reduces redness, blotchy patches, and acne scarring. Lavender is aromatherapeutic. It will soothe you, calm you, and may even put you to sleep.
(Try some Lavender Body Silk by The Butta Guru, guaranteed Zzzzzzz's!)

Comfrey Leaves: When used in a topical salve, comfrey heals bruises, skin ulcers, and joint inflammation.
I use comfrey leaves in my version of an old skool Amish Black Salve used to treat insects bites, boils, razor bumps, and other skin abrasions.
Apricot Seeds

Apricot Seeds: A very fine solid particle that exfoliates and removes damaged skin cells, leaving the skin soft and smooth.
I have used the apricot seeds in an Oatmeal and Apricot face scrub I made. The scrub itself is nice but the apricot seeds are a little too fine for my taste. You try it and let me know what you think.

So, I hope you enjoyed this Texture Tuesday and the sneak peek at The Butta Guru's cabinets. Go ahead experiment with some of these herbs and exfoliants. Open your mind to nature! You won't know what works for your skin until you try it! Please share with us the many ways you may use some of the herbs and exfoliants in the comment section.
